Resolution 2023-S9-2022

WHEREAS, UIC offers eleven pre-professional study concentrations, ten of which are considered
pre-health; and

WHEREAS, UIC is home to seven health science colleges: Applied Health Science, Dentistry,
Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Public Health, and Social Work; and

WHEREAS, The Health Professional Student Council (HPSC) serves as a representative student
government to UIC on behalf of the health science colleges; and

WHEREAS, A significant portion of the UIC’s undergraduate student body is currently on a pre-health
career pathway or show interest in pursuing a health-care related field; and

WHEREAS, There are a plethora of benefits that come from a collaboration between two student
government organizations in order to inter-connect as well as provide a platform for undergraduate
students to gain mentorship opportunities from graduate students; then

LET IT BE RESOLVED, That USG, Student Trustee Mohammed Haq, and the HPSC will collaborate to
host a hybrid event aimed at networking pre-health students with their professional counterparts as well
as provide a platform for HPSC members to lead a panel discussing their journeys towards graduate
school and current progression.
