USG Food Drive

WHEREAS, food insecurity is a pervasive issue in many communities, including the student population
at the University of Illinois – Chicago (UIC); and
WHEREAS, 30.8% of young adult college students from the United States have reported food
insecurity; and
WHEREAS, the Undergraduate Student Government is committed to serving the UIC Community and
promoting the well-being of its students; and
WHEREAS, USG has committed to fighting student food insecurity; and
WHEREAS, the UIC Wellness Center has a UIC Pop-Up Pantry that serves the UIC community by
giving food items and other necessities for free; and
WHEREAS, the Sparky’s Closet is a recourse for UIC students to get weather appropriate and
professional clothes; and
WHEREAS, members of USG are students who are committed to the betterment of the UIC community;
then
LET IT BE RESOLVED, USG will host an event titled USG’s Week of Giving from March, 27th 2023
until March 31st 2023.
LET IT BE RESOLVED, all USG members will be encouraged to bring three items, from the list
provided below, to donate during GBM 9 (03/27th/2023).
