WHEREAS, the Undergraduate Student Government and the Mental Health Commission are dedicated
to supporting student mental health and informing students of mental health resources and support
options on campus; and
WHEREAS, with the beginning of the academic year in the Fall semester, students (especially new
students) may experience heightened levels of stress as they adapt or readjust to college life; and
WHEREAS, the Undergraduate Student Government seeks to promote a campus culture that prioritizes
and addresses the mental health needs of UIC students; and
WHEREAS, tabling events present USG with the opportunity to increase its visibility on campus,
directly engage with students concerns, and expand its membership through the recruitment of new
members; then
LET IT BE RESOLVED, that the Undergraduate Student Government shall allocate a maximum of
$2000 for the purchase of stress balls, lotion, candles, facemasks, and handheld fans.
LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED, that USG and MHC shall work with the UIC Counseling Center to
compile a list of mental health resources at UIC (including but not limited to access to mental health
professionals, support groups, organizations, and online resources) to be printed and included in the care
packages.
LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED, that any unspent funds shall be returned to the USG budget.
