USG Campus Safety Commission Reauthorization Act of 2023-24

WHEREAS, the Undergraduate Student Government is an institution that advocates for student concerns
and campus service improvements; and,
WHEREAS, campus safety is a top concern of the student body and Undergraduate Student
Government’s members; and,
WHEREAS, there have been many concerning situations where student safety was at risk, and campus
services are not meeting the needs of the students; and,
WHEREAS, the UIC campus has had a notable amount of crime (UIC Alerts) within the first month of
school; then,
LET IT BE RESOLVED, that the Undergraduate Student Government shall continue to address campus
safety by reauthorizing the USG Campus Safety Commission for the 2023-2024 academic year; then,
LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED, that the mission of the USG Campus Safety Commission is as
follows:
“The USG Campus Safety Commission shall work to improve the safety of students and UIC
community members by meeting with administrators relevant to campus safety and soliciting
concerns, ideas, and feedback from students on campus services. Data achieved by this
commission shall be reported back to the Undergraduate Student Government to provide
recommendations to the UIC administration.”
LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED, upon passing this resolution, the Undergraduate Student
Government shall work immediately to form the USG Campus Safety Commission for the 2023-2024
