Mental Health Commission Kick-Off Funding

WHEREAS, the Mental Health Commission exists to promote student mental and emotional wellbeing
through targeted programming, assess the efficacy of mental health resources on campus, and
recommend the implementation of university policies that benefit students’ mental health; and
WHEREAS, the Undergraduate Student Government seeks to promote the Mental Health Commission
as a resource for students, student organizations, and administrators alike. As such, the Mental Health
Commission will hold a kick-off event through which it hopes to increase its visibility on campus,
highlight the various initiatives being pursued by the commission, and underscore the importance of
mental health advocacy and awareness at UIC; and
WHEREAS, the Mental Health Commission Kick-Off event will feature a total of 2 guest speakers from
the Wellness Center and the Counseling Center, to which the Undergraduate Student Government and
the Mental Health Commission wish to express their gratitude; then
LET IT BE RESOLVED, that the Undergraduate Student Government shall allocate up to $275.00 to
cover the costs of refreshments, the room reservation, and the purchase of honorariums for the event’s
guest speakers; and
LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED, that any unspent funds shall be returned to the Undergraduate
Student Government budget.
