USG Participation in UIC Dining Food Security Event and Promotion of Meal Swipe Donation

WHEREAS, food insecurity is a pressing issue for students at the University of Illinois Chicago, with
many students facing challenges in accessing adequate and nutritious meals; and
WHEREAS, UIC dining and other campus organizations have made efforts to address food insecurity by
providing resources and programs that offer assistance to students in need; and
WHEREAS, the Undergraduate Student Government (USG) recognizes the importance of support food
security initiatives and aims to engage the student body in efforts to combat food insecurity; and
WHEREAS, the Meal Swipe Donation program provides students with an easy way to contribute to the
well-being of their peers; then
LET IT BE RESOLVED, that USG will actively participate and table at the UIC Dining Food Security
Event on Tuesday, November 12 and Wednesday, November 13 to promote the launch of the Meal
Swipe Donation Program.
LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED, that USG will create and display QR codes during the event,
linking to a Qualtrics form where students can donate 1, 2, or 3 meal swipes to support their peers in
need.
LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED, that the USG will offer incentives for students who donate meal
swipes using supplies already available in the USG office, such as sunglasses, pencils, and bags, with
the type of incentive varying based on the number of meal swipes donated.
