Spark Your Success

Held on September 16, 2025, Spark Your Success had more than 100 student attendees. The event focused on helping students strengthen their resumes and offered professional headshots, with more than 95 taken throughout the day. Students were intentionally matched with recruiters based on their majors to provide personalized feedback and guidance on resumes and interviews. Spark Your Success gave students a great chance to build their confidence, grow their professional skills, and prepare for life after graduation.

Flames Fest

UIC students came together on UH Lawn for Flames Fest, enjoying an evening of campus pride with free food, live music, and fun giveaways including blankets, fall-themed pop fidgets, and firemen hats.

Meet the Athletes

Meet the Athletes was held on October 1, 2025, on the UH Lawn. Pioneered by UIC Athletics and supported by USG, the event aimed to expand school spirit and introduce student-athletes from multiple sports, including basketball, volleyball, and more to the broader UIC community. Drawing over 600 attendees, the event featured free Celsius Energy drinks, pizza, and giveaways, creating an energetic and engaging atmosphere for the UIC community.

Coffee, Cocoa, Cookies, and Careers

Students enjoyed a successful campus event focused on professional and academic development, connecting with peers and exploring the wide range of resources available to support their growth. It was organized with the help of a multitude of campus offices, including Alumni Relations, Career Services, the Business Career Center, the Office of Undergraduate Research, and the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. The event provided valuable opportunities for networking, learning, and collaboration. Participants were given the chance to engage with the university community and strengthen their professional paths.

Halloween Giveaway

Halloween came early at the SCE Concourse! Students stopped by for free candy, fidget toys, and festive fun on October 30th. Thank you to everyone who joined the celebration and brought the Halloween spirit to campus!

Library Howl-O-Ween Dog Costume Contest

USG collaborated with the UIC Daley Library this Halloween to bring us cute dogs in costumes! Students were able to grab breakfast and play with dogs! Students also had the opportunity to vote on their favorite costumes! Special shout-out to AmabassaDogKenzo who won 1st place at the contest in his spectacular Stanley Cup (Spa Style).

Open Educational Resources Awareness

USG hosted an Open Educational Resource awareness event on Tuesday, November 18th, in the Library IDEA Commons. Students enjoyed food and refreshments while learning about the impact of free textbooks and accessible learning materials on academic success. The event featured a panel of two UIC students and two guest speakers who shared their experiences and insights on how OER can reduce financial strain and support equitable education.

Voter Registration Tabling

On Voter Registration Day, USG helped students register to vote and provided resources to ensure they can participate in upcoming elections. Students also enjoyed hot chocolate as they stopped by to learn more and get involved.

Connecting Student Leaders

On November 19th, PAC brought together 70 student leaders from 30 organizations for an evening focused on collaboration! One of the highlights was the speed networking activity, which sparked meaningful conversations and new partnerships across campus. Here’s to building a stronger, more connected UIC community!

Homecoming Tailgate

On November 11th, students gathered at the USG heated tent to enjoy hot chocolate and cupcakes! It was wonderful seeing the UIC community come together before the Flames basketball game, and the evening wrapped up with a beautiful fireworks show that lit up the campus!

Hunger Awareness Food Drive

From November 17–21, USG hosted a Food Drive Competition to support the UIC Pop-Up Pantry. The organization that donated the most earned a $300 UIC Catering credit. The Pop-Up Pantry provides free food to registered students experiencing food insecurity, helping them access the support they need to thrive.

Thanksgiving Dinner

On November 20th, Student Government hosted a warm Thanksgiving Dinner at the SCE Inner Circle. Students enjoyed a delicious dinner, and featured engaging trivia games that sparked plenty of laughter, along with raffle prizes! With its cozy atmosphere and friendly energy, the event gave students a chance to celebrate the season together. It was a meaningful reminder of the strength and spirit of the UIC community.

Striking Into Finals

On December 2nd, Student Government hosted Striking Into Finals, a stress-relief event designed to help students unwind ahead of finals week. Students took a break from studying to enjoy free bowling and billiards in a fun, relaxed setting. With friendly competition, laughter, and a welcoming atmosphere, the event offered a much-needed opportunity to recharge and connect with peers. Striking Into Finals served as a reminder that balance, community, and well-being are essential as students head into the end of the semester.

StudyPalooza

On December 3rd, Student Government hosted Study Palooza, a finals week support event designed to help students stay energized during long study sessions. Taking place in the library, the event provided free Jimmy John’s to students as they prepared for exams. By creating a welcoming and supportive environment, Study Palooza offered a small but meaningful boost during one of the most demanding times of the semester and reinforced the importance of student well-being and community.
